on Thursday

Two words that automatically invoke sympathy on the part of anyone:

Root Canal.

Wednesday Excuse on a Thursday

I don't know about you but 4 day workweeks throw my schedule out of whack. I love the 3 day weekend that comes along with it. Unfortunately, when I arrive at work on Tuesday, my brain says Monday. So even though its Thursday, I'm feeling Wednesday. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it.

Wednesday’s Excuse

This is an excuse that will only work in the rainy Pacific Northwest:

“Dude, it’s sunny outside and I’m Vitamin D deficient!”

Wednesday's Excuse

Can't make it in. I have a chance of filling in for someone on jury duty.

Wednesday’s Excuse

I can't come into work today...my spirit guide says work is for losers!

Wednesday’s Excuse

My dog ate my car keys and we’re taking the bus to the veterinarian’s office.

Wednesday’s Excuse

It’s really not that hard to come up with an acceptable reason to miss work. You don’t have to go to extremes. Take the example of the man in Pasco, Washington who decided he didn’t want to go to work because of possible drug testing. Most people would come up with an excuse such as “grandma died,” “I have the flu”, or even “I just feel under the weather.” In most instances, these work, but our hero in Pasco apparently just did not think that would be good enough. His solution was to have his friend shoot him in the shoulder and tell the police that he was the victim of a drive by shooting. Later he would admit to police this was all an effort to get time off of work to avoid an upcoming drug test.

Two things come to mind:

1. What was he thinking?
Anyone who would agree to shoot you so you can miss time from work is not someone you want to trust with a gun and any employee that would do something of this nature certainly gives the impression that their judgment is clouded by something.

2. This is my story and I’m sticking to it.

Like you mom used to tell you: “Oh, what a tangled web we weave when we first begin to deceive.” Here our buddy will not only be missing time from work, he has been charged with false reporting and his friend is charged with reckless endangerment.
